Adam Perzynski, PhD

Dr. Perzynski is Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine at MetroHealth and Assistant Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology at CWRU. He is a faculty member the Center for Health Care Research and Policy here at MetroHealth, where he Co-Directs Population Health. He is also Director of the nation’s first Patient Centered Media Lab and Director of Evaluation for The MetroHealth School Health Program. His doctoral degree is in sociology, and his current research interests include novel strategies to eliminate health disparities, health outcomes measurement over the life course, and mixed methods research. His methodologic expertise spans the continuum from focus groups and ethnography to psychometrics and structural equation modelling. He has more than four dozen peer reviewed publications and over a hundred scientific presentations that span many disciplines. His work has been published in JAMA, The Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, Medical Decision Making and the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association. He is currently editing a collection of narratives of Health Disparities to be published in 2018. These publications stand out against the backdrop of a career-long effort to infuse the study of biomedical scientific problems with the knowledge, theories, and methods of social science.
