Austin LaBanc grew up in San Diego playing water polo and spear fishing in the kelp filled waters of the Pacific. Following his first year of undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University, where he dabbled in folk dance, he spent two years in Southern Brazil doing missionary work. After returning from Brazil Austin completed his schooling in Public Health at BYU and then began medical school at Midwestern University. While living in Arizona Austin and his wife Lisa have Welcomed Eliza and Jane into the family. As a student at Midwestern Austin has enjoyed participating in many clubs, and scratching his itch for the anatomy lab by working as a head and neck anatomy TA for the Dental and Optometry students. Being a recipient of the HPSP scholarship Austin is thrilled to serve in the Navy and take advantage of the unique opportunities military medicine has to offer. In his spare time Austin enjoys training for triathlons, reading, and spending time with his family.
